Savor the Coffee...

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, were talking at
a
reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now
retired.
During their visit the conversation soon turned into complaints about
stress
in their work and lives.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and
returned
with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups- porcelain,
plastic,
glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite,
telling
them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the alumni had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:
"Notice that all of the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up,
leaving
behind the plain and cheap ones. While it normal for you to want only
the
best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be
assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases
it
is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you
consciously
went for the best cups…and then you began eyeing each other's
cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; your job, money, and position in
society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life.
The type of cup one has does not define, nor change the quality of Life
a
person lives. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to
enjoy
the coffee God has provided us."

God makes the coffee, man chooses the cups. The happiest people
don't have
the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Enjoy your coffee!

Test of Judgment..

A lady in a faded gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun
threadbare suit, stopped off the train in Boston, and walked timidly
without an appointment into the Harvard University president's outer
office. The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods,
country
hicks had no business at Harvard and probably didn't even deserve to be
in
Cambridge. She frowned. "We want to see the president," the man said
softly. "He'll be busy all day," the secretary snapped. "We'll wait,"
the
lady replied.

For hours, the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would
finally become discouraged and go away. They didn't, and the secretary
grew
frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president, even though it
was
a chore she always regretted. "Maybe if they just see you for a few
minutes
they'll leave," she told him.

He sighed in exasperation and nodded. Someone of his importance
obviously
didn't have the time to spend with them, but he detested gingham dresses
and
homespun suits cluttering up his outer office. The president, stern
faced
with dignity, strutted toward the couple. The lady told him, "We had a
son
who attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here.
But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. And my husband and I
would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on campus."

The president wasn't touched, he was shocked. "Madam," he said gruffly,
"we
can't put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If
we
did, this place would look like a cemetery."
"Oh, no," the lady explained quickly. "We don't want to erect a statue.
We
thought we would like to give a building to Harvard."

The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and
homespun suit, then exclaimed, "A building! Do you have any earthly
idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million
dollars in the physical plant at Harvard."

For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. He could
get
rid of them now. And the lady turned to her husband and said quietly,
"Is
that all it costs to start a university? Why don't we just start our
own?"
Her husband nodded.

The president's face wilted in confusion and bewilderment. And Mr. and
Mrs. Leland Stanford walked away, traveling to Palo Alto, California,
where
they established the university that bears their name, a memorial to a
son
that Harvard no longer cared about.

You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who
do
nothing for them or to them.

God Said...

If you never felt pain, then how would you know that I'm a Healer?

If you never went through difficulties, how would you know that I'm a
Deliverer?

If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself an overcomer?

If you never felt sadness, how would you know that I'm a Comforter?

If you never made a mistake, how would you know that I'm forgiving?

If you knew it all, how would you know that I will answer your questions?

If you never were in trouble, how would you know that I will come to your
rescue?

If you never were broken, then how would you know that I can make you whole?

If you never had a problem, how would you know that I can solve them?

If you never had any suffering, then how would you know what Jesus went
through?

If you never went through the fire, then how would you become pure?

If I gave you all things, how would you appreciate them?

If I never corrected you, how would you know that I love you?

If you had all power, then how would you learn to depend on me?

If your life was perfect, then what would you need Me for?

THANK YOU, GOD!

Life is a Warfare...

Life Is a Warfare
by
Horacio dela Costa, S.J.

Life is a warfae. It is a warfare between two
standards: the standard of Christ and the standard of
Satan. It is a warfare older than the world, for it
began with the revolt of the angels. It is a warfare
wider than than the world: It rages in every nation,
in every city, in the heart of every man.

Satan desires that all men come under his standard.
And to this end,he lures them with riches, honors,
powers---everything that caters to the lust and pride
of man.

Christ on the contrary invites all to fight under His
standard, but He offers no worldly allurement: only
Himself, only Jesus, the Son of Man, born an outcast,
raised in poverty, betrayed by His friends, rejected
as a teacher, crucified like criminal. And therefore
His followers must be ready to suffer what He
suffered: poverty, betrayal, rejection, at times, even
death.

But Jesus, the Son of Man, is also Jesus, The Son of
God. And, therefore, His followers will not be
confounded forever. They are certain of ultimate
victory. Agaisnt them, the gates of hell shall not
prevail. The powers of darkness shall splinter before
their splendid batallions. Battle-scarred but
resplendent, they shall enter into the glory of God,
their King.

Two armies. Two standards. Two battalions.

And to very man, there comes an imperious cry of
command: Choose: Christ or Satan. Choose: sanctity or
sin. Choose: heaven or hell!

And, in the choice he makes, is summed up the life of
every man.

The Fern and the Bamboo.

One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my
spirituality. ... I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have
one
last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me.

"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of
them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from
the
earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the
bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again,
nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would
not
quit. The same in year four.

"Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.

Compared to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant.

But just six months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.

It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong
and
gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations
a
challenge it could not handle.

"Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling,
you
have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo.. I
will
never quit on you.

"Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different
purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.

"Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest, realizing that God will never give up on me. And He
will
never give up on you.

Never regret a day in your life.

Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences; both are
essential to life.

Hope Does Not Disappoint..

HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT

This hope does not disappoint us... รข€" Romans 5:5

I was chatting online with a friend when I first read the Bible verse:
Hope does not disappoint. It struck me as beautiful and I shared it with
my friend.
But it does! Hope disappoints! It causes you to have expectations
and you get shot down, she explained. And I realized we were talking
about two different things. She was talking about hope in the things of
this world; the line was referring to hope borne out of our experience
of God.
I am no stranger to losing hope. For most of my life, I believed
that the only way to survive was to avoid situations where I could get
hurt. I put up near-insurmountable walls around me so I wouldnt get too
attached to anyone or anything. What I didnt realize earlier on was that
letdowns are part of life and should be accepted with an open heart.
This conviction came during a particularly low day, when I was surprised
by a sudden realization: No matter what happens to me, God will never
allow me to be unhappy for too long. It is almost impossible to feel bad
after a thought like that.
Hope in a faithful God does not disappoint. Anna dG.

Is your faith still lacking?
Strengthen my hope; strengthen my faith.

the soul

Dawn's Friend

I want to tell you something, it happened to me today.
I was feeling empty, so I began to pray.
I said, "God can you hear me? Who am I to be?
What purpose do I have? What am I to see?"

He said, "Dawn you're a teacher, you help people know.
You guide them to their Truth, helping them to grow."
I said, "Lord, you're mistaken, my guides do that for me.
The teacher, that You speak of is You, can't you see?"

"Oh you precious child, your words are very true.
But understanding Me, is understanding you.
You also are a leader, settling only for the best .
You seek for the highest, strong in your request."

"I know that this is true, but my progress seems so slow.
The more I seem to learn, the more I need to know.
I feel very strange and wonder if you might...
Be thinking of someone else, that radiates more light."

"You are so adorable, this is exactly what I mean.
You insist for the Knowing, until it's clearly seen.
Your heart is of valor, powered by The Love,
True in your desires, to always rise above."

"I thank you, dear Lord, for showing me my soul.
Now I will continue, to strive for my goal.
I know it sounds crazy, but I seek to know this ....
Can we live forever in complete and utter bliss?"

"Yes my sweet child, keep this in your sight.
For surely what you seek, will offer you your light
But first see it in, before you see it out...
In this place of bliss, there's not a shred of doubt.

"I will take you there, and this you will find...
The bliss you are seeking, is with you all the time.
I love you, Dawn, dearly. I hope you understand,
I will never leave you nor let go of your hand.

"There are many avenues, to the goal that you seek.
Many paths to choose from, and many ways to teach.
But there is only one Answer in the end...
All will come to know... I Am... their Friend."

Fwd: Proverbs 4:5-6

Today's scripture is Proverbs 4:5-6
"Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from
the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee:
love her, and she shall keep thee."
Whether your goal is to be an excellent evangelist or a first-rate
engineer in the service of the Lord, it is the wisdom that comes from
the Word of God that will get you there.
Jesus said it this way: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you"
(Matthew 6:33).
So commit yourself right now to do whatever it takes to totally
saturate yourself with the Word of God. Use every available
moment to read, study, listen to, and meditate on it.

God's delays are not denials
The Lord always hears our prayers but
He doesn't always say "yes"
Sometimes he says "wait"
Sometimes he says "no" for He has
Something better for us.
God's delays are not denials,
He has heard your prayers
He knows all bout your trials.
He knows your every care
God's delays are not denials
He helps us on the way.
He is watching 'O' life's trials
Bringing forth that day.
God's delays are not denials
You will find Him through,
Working through darkest trials
What is best for you. When God does not immediately respond
To the cries of His children
It is because He wants to accomplish
Some gracious purpose in their lives.
If you are waiting for an answer
Of some of your heartfelt petitions
Don't become impatient
Commit the matter into the Hands of
Your Heavenly Father and trust His Wisdom
Our heavenly Father never takes something
Away from us unless He intends to give us
Something better in return.
Some of the most beautiful music in our
World has come from people
Who have been seasoned by trials
Therefore let HIM handle the situation

No Time to bother with Religion

One of the most inspiring thinkers of the 20th century is Dietrich
Bonhoeffer. Actually, he was not just a theologian and writer--but a
doer--so much of a doer that his work in the German resistance
movement during World War II led him to be imprisoned and finally
killed in a concentration camp. Born in Breslau, Germany in 1906,
Bonhoeffer understood, even before Hitler came to power, the dangers
of a political system that made an idol or god of a leader or a system.

He was a pastor and teacher, and eventually was involved with an
underground plot against Hitler, even though some argued with him that
it would be wiser to withdraw from the activities. Bonhoeffer
responded that if persons claim to be persons of faith, there is no
room for taking the easy way out.

He was arrested in 1943 and sent to prison and various concentration
camps. In prison, he ministered to the sick and to his fellow
prisoners, and it was reported that he was able to comfort the anxious
and depressed in an amazing way. Ultimately, he was executed by
special order at the concentration camp at Flossenburg on April 9,
1945, just a few days before it was liberated by the Allies. (From
"Memoir," G. Leibholz, in Cost of Discipleship.)

I tend to pay attention to strong words written by someone who has
given their life for what they believe. Bonehoeffer says: "None of us
is so rushed that it would be impossible to allow for even ten minutes
in the day in which arrangements could be made for silence, in order
to place oneself in the presence of Eternity."

I also found this intriguing: "You do not have your belief once and
for all. Your belief demands to be won anew tomorrow and the day after
tomorrow; indeed, it demands to be won anew with every new day...
Either we receive faith anew every day or it decays... Every morning
brings a new struggle to push through all the unbelief, through all
the littleness of faith, through all the vagueness and confusion--to
reach faith and wrest it from God." He reminds us: "If the [Bible] has
become empty for me in my daily routine, if I no longer experience it,
that proves I have not let it speak personally to me for a long time."
Countless persons have died for their faith throughout the ages. They
paid the ultimate test. Too many of us claim we can't be bothered to
even live what we believe.

Perhaps you started some good habits during Lent--including taking
time for spiritual meditation. Don't let Easter be the end of it--let
it be the beginning of a deeper and active commitment to your faith.

Luke 13:14

Today's scripture is Luke 13:14
"And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because
that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people,
There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore
come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day."
Religion is dangerous. Religion would rather debate about healing
than see somebody healed. Religion would rather argue about
deliverance than see somebody set free.
Remember that next time someone tries to get you sidetracked into
a religious debate about healing or deliverance. If someone needs
to be delivered from a demon, just do it! That's the difference
between religion and the love of God. Religion argues. Love acts.
Choose love today.

Goodbye Anthony

Today the Heavenly Father called my dear cousin Anthony (Vinay) to paradise. Anthony was quite a nice guy, he was a lot like me, i'm gonna miss him. He died peacefully in his sleep; when God calls you have to go wherever you are. He was only 20 years old. His death taught me one thing don't take life for granted you might be here today and tommorow you might not be. Therefore settle your scores by the end of the day. I know I shall meet him in paradise when I'm called there. Till then Anthony.............
